Our Team

The Waljis Team consists of 13 Travel and Tourism Consultants, 5 Accountants, 4 Administrators, and 18 Support Staff. This team is spearheaded by three individuals, whose profiles are outlined below:

Mohamed F. Sumar – Group CEO

With a humble beginning in 1986 as a ticketing agent with our Airline Representation Company – Holiday Africa, Mohamed Sumar moved to head the Finance & Admin Department while also taking care of Airport Flight Operations until 1996 where he was given the additional responsibility of heading Waljis Travel Bureau as General Manager. During this period, he successfully negotiated several International affiliations vis-à-vis Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Marriott Hotels and AIG Travel Insurance.

The year 2006 saw a major reorganization due to operating diversified businesses in various sectors necessitated a structured approach to reach and serve our Customers more efficiently and benefit from economies of scale. This was then naissance of I Group; an umbrella body to guide and oversee all the operations of its diversified businesses vis-à-vis Air Travel, Leisure & Hospitality, Airline Representation, Drinking Water and Printing.

Mr. Mohamed F. Sumar was thus promoted to lead I Group as its Chief Executive Officer with all heads of the respective member Companies reporting to him. According to his subordinates, Mr. Sumar is a calm and well-rounded individual, using philosophical theory and finance laws to make pragmatic decisions.

Zainab (Jenny) Dhalla - Managing Director

Zainab (Jenny) Dhalla is responsible for the direction and operation of Waljis Travel Bureau Ltd. With over 25 years of experience in the company, Ms. Dhalla has been highly responsible in the transformation of a once small travel bureau into a globally recognized Travel Management Company (TMC). Her main focus as a Managing Director is to drive employee and customer satisfaction through an open-door policy, supervision, training and trouble-shooting.

Ms. Dhalla joined Waljis Travel Bureau Ltd In 1984 as a ‘travel clerk’, working side-by-side with the current Chairman, issuing manual air and rail tickets to the small Tanzanian traveling demographic of the time. Under the leadership of Ms. Dhalla, the company has grown significantly to win multiple accolades and respect from the travel industry and the general public. Ms. Dhalla’s is persistent, determined and driven, getting things done right the first time, every time.

Francisca Vaz - Travel Supervisor

Francisca Vaz joined Waljis Travel Bureau Ltd In 1989 in the tourism department, and then moved to domestic travel a few years later, and finally into international travel. She is now the travel supervisor guiding the reservations department, mainly troubleshooting ticketing and customer relations. Francisca has spent half of her life serving Waljis’ customers, and continues to be a driving force behind the success of the company. Francisca is a friendly and detail-oriented perfectionist, which our customers can vouch.
